Quick And Easy Halloween Party Food That Your Guests Will Love
Halloween parties may mean creative and gross looking sweets and desserts for the kids, but we often forget about the poor adults who would often prefer something savory and filling. Don't let your guests go home hungry this Halloween. Have a look at these wonderful, creative savory finger food recipes that guests of all ages are bound to love.
Eyeball Sandwiches With Deviled Tuna
Cut out rounds from the bread with a 2 ½ inch cookie cutter. Set the rounds aside on a baking sheet. Boil, cool and peel 6 hard boiled eggs and scoop out the yolks. Mash a can of tuna into the egg until the pieces are small. Mix in a minced clove of garlic, juice of half a lemon, 1 tablespoon minced shallots, 3 tablespoons of mayonnaise and one of Greek yoghurt, some Dijon mustard, salt and pepper to taste.
Stir to combine into a slightly chunky mixture. Make small balls of the tune-egg mixture and place one each onto the bread rounds. Stick a pimento-stuffed olive in the middle of each 'eye' and you have your eyeball. Squirt ketchup around the edges of the bread to make it look like nerves. These can be scary, but delicious. You can also substitute the tuna with smoked ham (skip the eggs in that case) run through a food processor.
Roasted Pumpkin Seeds
Do not throw away the pumpkin seeds after you've carved out those Jack-o-Lanterns! Roast them and hand them around in a witch's hat for your guests to munch on. You can purchase additional raw pumpkin seeds if your carving does not yield enough. Then preheat your oven to 300 degrees F, toss 1 ½ cups seeds in a bowl with 2 teaspoons melted butter and salt. Bake the seeds on a baking sheet, in a single layer, until golden brown. Stir occasionally. Your snack should be ready in a little less than an hour.
Egg and Cheese Eyeball Quiche
Make little mini quiches (with your own pastry dough or store-bought piecrust dough) stuffed with herby, chilli egg and cheese filling. Stud with two pimento-stuffed olive slices for eyes and bake.
Blood Soup and Monster Sandwiches
A simple, easy and fun way to serve up some tomato soup is in test tubes. Find a wire rack or a test tube holder to hold the soup on your kitchen table. Serve with dark bread cheese sandwiches cut in the shape of bats, devil heads, witch heads or what have you.
Halloween Monster Nacho Spreads
Take your favorite nacho bean dip and spread on individual round nacho chips over a layer of cream cheese just before serving. The dip should not be too runny and just chunky enough for a fun texture. Stud with cherry tomato noses, sliced black or green olive eyes, bell pepper triangles for mouths and radish strings for hair to make monster faces.
You can also make simpler cracker finger foods with mini Halloween-themed cookie cutters. Cut out slices of meats and cheeses in Halloween shapes and place on various cookies along with some lettuce and tomato or onion pieces to make monster faces.
These quick and easy recipes can be pulled off by the most amateur of cooks, but they are bound to be enjoyed by all your guests. You can also get creative with variations of these recipes for the fall holiday. Have fun!
